Motis began playing the trumpet when she was just seven years old. At age ten, she began her studies in jazz music at the Municipal School of Music of Sant Andreu where her teacher, Joan Chamorro, recognized her great talent and recruited her for his own band, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band.. During her years with the band, Motis recorded eight discs before releasing her first ever solo album.
