The way you did the alignments and showed step by step is great. My gripe is with how you used bridges. AFAIK this would more often be done using an overpass/underpass setup. The north/south road dips in the middle, so the east/west bridges can be 1/3 the length they are now, and less steep. DeadHeadLibertarian.

Arterials are the cities major roads and often connect to your highway network using service interchanges. Arterials should only intersect with other arterial and collector roads. Those intersections should be few and far between. Getting off the highway I like to leave about 30 squares before my first intersection with a collector road.

The best performing 5-way intersection overall is no.30 the "5 way cloverstar interchange - Network Extension upgrade" by "FightBiscuit", however, this interchange is very large, expensive and required a lot of Lane Management TLC to get it to perform at the top level. All you do is turn the highway after the ramp into 4 lanes (for a 2 lane ramp connecting to a 2 lane highway), then back to 3 after a while. If the game doesn't want to make the 4 lane piece the length you desire, connect a 2 lane small road (any non highway road will probably work) to it at the right place, convert the highway to 4 lanes, then delete the 2 lane road.
